Hello Geeks, I have a MacBook Pro 15" with a bad logic board (820-2915-A). It keeps turning off after less than one second of pressing the power button and it was previously shows the famous gray screen and symptoms related to the GPU. So I decided its time to change the logic board with mid 2012 one but I’m afraid that it won’t fit or I may face the same issues related to the GPU. I can pay up to $600 safely if I won’t face that problem again, as I can’t imagine to pay that amount and face that issue still again. Waiting for your response URGENTLY :) Note: currently I can’t afford to buy a new system.

Things might not be that bad! Your symptoms sound like the tantalum capacitor which is part of the switching logic needs replacing. I would find a good Mac logic board repair person to see if your system can be repaired. This is an easy repair if thats the problem To double check things see if your system works in single user mode. Let us know what happens. All of the 2011 & 2012 MacBook Pro’s face this issue as Apple went with a cheap capacitor. Louis Rossmann has a few vids in YouTube going over this defect.
