I have a MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Model A1502 with 2.4GHz and 4GB RAM. It’s not turning on but will charge when magsafe plugged in. I’m looking to replace the logic board. Hopefully that solves it.’ I want to take this opportunity to upgrade the speed and RAM. For example, will I be able to switch the old 2.4 logic board with a 2.6 logic board? I don’t want to replace the logic board with the 2.6 and my computer wont work.. Or will I have to stick with the 2.4 and upgrade the RAM only? How can I test if the battery also needs replacing? When I was able to get it to turn on again I quickly checked the battery cycle and I believe it was at around 300 or 500 cycles. I’m not entirely sure.

Lets give this a try to isolate the problem. Follow this guide to disconnect the battery MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Battery Replacement follow it dow to Step 6. Now set the system on its side so the MagSafe outlet is up. Press and hold the power button for a good 15 secs to finish discharging the logic. Now plug in your MagSafe charger the system should spontaneously start. Did it? If it did its more likely your charger or battery is messing you up.
