Hi all, A short while ago I bought an iPod Video 5.5 80GB, but unfortunately the jack connector already broke (music is playing through 1 ear). I’ve got a spare iPod classic 160gb 7th gen. Would it be possible to replace the iPod video’s jack/hold switch with the one from the Classic? Thanks!
@jeltev Yes they are interchangeable. The headphone jack/hold switch, hard drive cable, and hard drive (from the 5th gen to 6th gen but not vice versa)are compatible. Everything else is not.
Looks like it’s a different part for the two iPods, but I think you can buy one from these guys.
If haven’t already figured it out yet, you have a 5.5 80gb that is a thick case model trying to replace a hold/jack ribbon from a 7th gen thats thin case model, thats why it doesn’t fit right , maybe try using the back case of the 7th
