Piece on charger on the cell phone was damaged and is know longer there. Unable to charge phone. Has phone looked at was told nothing they could do. Purchased new phone J7 and the memory card would not download any information to this phone (J7). Have pictures and numbers on old phone and unable to retrieve them. Is there anything I can do So I can retrieve information from the old phone (S3)?
The charging port can be replaced by a experienced technician, it requires micro soldering and a lot of heat to get the charging port off and put a new one on. You should take it to another repair shop. Sounds like they don’t do charging port replacements where it requires it to be taken off using heat instead of those easily replaceable parts like the newer phones like the S4 or iPhone 4 and newer.
