Chosen Solution

I have a Tiff 9010a refrigerant scale made by Robinair and the cable that connects the weight platform to the display has lost all it’s rubber and is losing the shielding, the power button doesn’t work so I have to unplug the battery to turn it off and the screen doesn’t display all segments unless you press gently below it. I posted pictures of the connector for the cable, the cable and the internals of the display. Could someone help me identify the connector, cable type, screen and buttons so that I can restore it to it’s original glory?

Hi @r600a Couldn’t find a parts or service manual that would help to identify the parts but here are some links that may help. 5 core screened coiled cable (Looking at the image it appears that the cable is a screened coiled cable and not a screened straight cable). Select suitable wire gauge etc. 5 pin header housing for cable connection to pcb. Not sure if this is the correct size as the pins on the board can vary in pitch etc. Regarding the power button, you may have to remove the cover from the button to see what type it is. Search on either of the two websites above for either a locking or momentary push button switch to see what is available and is suitable. You didn’t specify what type of action the Power button has that’s why I mentioned locked i.e. press to operate, press again to release or momentary i.e. operates only when pressed. With the display unit, is there any information printed on the back of the display itself to help identify it? Mostly LCD displays are made by specialist screen manufacturers to the specifications of the device manufacturer so if it is faulty it may be difficult to source a compatible replacement. Unfortunately, faulty LCD displays usually cannot be repaired they have to be replaced if the problem is internal. If keeping pressure on the back of the screen keeps all the segments working you may have to pad it out underneath where it is mounted to ensure that there is pressure there. Just something I would try if a replacement couldn’t be found. Hopefully this is of some help.
