I fixed my PS3 per the instructions and it has worked for nearly a month. I have it in a more open environment so it wont over heat and i also don’t keep it on for more than an hour any more. Yet it still got the YLoD again.
ylod repairs using hot air and reapplying paste aren’t a permanent fix..it has temporarily filled/reflowed the solder which has cracked under those chips.you need to get it “reballed” which is having the solder replaced under the chip. It’s not something you can do yourself without investing in equipment. take a google for people near you who can do BGA repairs (ball grid array…) often ebay has people offering these repairs and you can read their feedback etc before handing over your ps3. the other option is to redo the heatgun trick which may last another month.
