I had originally cracked my iPad Air 1 screen, bought a replacement (home button included) online and put on it. Everything was working fine at that point. However when I was sealing it up I stupidly/accidentally tore one of the digitizer ribbons. I had a back up screen, where I would just have to transfer the home button, so I put that one on. However when I try and turn the iPad on to test it it won’t turn on, just a black screen. I tried holding the power button down, tried charging it all night last night. Nothing. I ordered a new digitizer today. Could it just be something as simple as changing that? This has been my very first time doing any type of repair like this so I was really proud of myself until that happened. Please tell me this is just a simple fix?
To @mayer’s point, you may have a cheap quality digitizer. eBay stuff is notorious for being bottom of the barrel. My other concern would be wether or not the digitizer connector on the logic was damaged. If you tore the flex, that means stress was placed on it and the connector could also have been damaged. You should do a careful visual inspection, preferably with magnification, to insure that the connector was not damaged. By now, you probably received a new replacement digitizer…let us know what you found for the benefit of others.
