The replacement adhesive sent out with the screen replacements for the late 2013 27" iMac are really really strong. And they are not the same foam that ships originally on the 27" iMac. I got the screen on, HDD replaced with an SSD no problem. But I need to re-open the iMac again sadly. Any tips on removing the REPLACEMENT adhesive that they send out? Just lots of heat and hopes and dreams?
Goof Off is what I would use on the glass & metal surfaces. You may want to get a Plastic razor blade to help scrape off the adhesive. Update (05/24/2018) OK, Lets start this again… You’ll need to use the correct tools to cut the tape to get the screen off iMac Opening Wheel and I like using these: Plastic Cards and iFixit Opening Picks (Set of 6) as I work around. My answer was cleaning off the adhesive after you have pulled the display off.
