Is it mandatory to detach the LCD completely when replacing a charging port?
No it’s not mandatory but you only have to remove an extra 4 screws. With the screen off it will be a lot easier to manoeuvre the phone around to access the screws and use your pry tool without risk of damaging the screens flex cables.
