Sounds like you forgot to reconnect a thermal sensor, there are quite a few of these throughout the computer, and forgetting the reconnect them will result in the computer thinking that it is overheating, and reving the fans up to full speed. Thermal sensors ususually use 2-Pin connectors, and can be easy to forget to reconenct.

Recheck all your connections esp. the ones to fan and heat sink. You could have one that “looks connected” but isn’t, or you may have damaged a connector. Good Luck, N.
