During a power outage, my side by side refrigerator began leaking down the front door from underneath the ice/water dispenser tray (located outside the fridge). When power was restored, the leaking eventually stopped. The only thing I did was replace the water filter which was less than three months in use . The fridge is less than two years old. Should I be concerned?
Jack Jackson, It was just condensation. That is normal with a sudden tempature change. The inner door began to get warm and the condensation ran together like streams do and exited under the dispenser. If you notice it again when the unit is running properly, or if rust develops where it leaked than you might want it checked. Rust would be my concern. I’ve seen it on a lot of side by sides, the rust starts just where you said yours leaked. The rust grows so fast that with in a year the trim won’t fit properly around the dispenser. If you bought an extended warranty, you might want to call for service just to have it documented in case it rusts. Better chance of getting it replaced.
