My Kenmore Elite bottom freezer refrigerator not cooling. Heard clicking in rear of refrigerator. Bought and replaced relay and start capacitor after hearing clicking noise. After being unplugged a few hours the compressor starts and runs and cools refrigerator and freezer ( runs about 4 to 6 hours). Kicks off but cannot restart compressor. It just clicks. What do I look at next? Please help. Been without it for a week now. There was a couple of days it wouldn’t kick on after being unplugged but yesterday when I tried to plug it in it started doing the same thing it originally did ( runs til cool but can’t restart).
The clicking is the relay doing its job. It is cutting off the compress because the compressor is too hot. Once the compressor cools down, it will run fine, until it gets too hot, then the relay turns off the compressor. The relay does this to protect the compressor from burnout. You have and issue in the sealed system. There is no way to determine what has failed without tapping the system. Only a certified refrigeration technician can enter the sealed system.
