I replaced my display and have run into a few issues: A red vertical line appears when I have a dark gray or black color on the screen. It is about a third of the way from the left side of the screen and is about one pixel wideToday, the display showed with horizontal lines and a kind of “blurring” effect where everything was grayWhen lowering brightness, the display shows a light gray “tint” that goes away when at max brightnessWhen I close the lid and look from top of the lid towards the camera there seems to be a light inside the camera hole. This is preventing the ambient light sensor from working and caused me to disable the keyboard backlight option to adjust based on ambient light in order to be able to turn on the keyboard backlight Somehow, these issues are occasional. Only the red vertical line and keyboard backlight problem can be reproduced repeatedly. The other problems just happened once and then when away after a restart or opening/closing the lid. Are these issues indicative of a loose cable or a faulty display?
First the replacement display assembly is bad the red line and the gray/black edge are signs of a damaged T-CON board which is the circuit board connected by ribbon cables and the rest of the display.
Clearly this is a messed up display if the iSight camera/ambient light sensor from working properly. Time to buy a better quality part from a more reliable source. Hopefully you can return this one and get your money back. 15” MacBook Pro Complete Display - Space Grey, Apple P/N 661-08030 (New) 15” MacBook Pro Complete Display - Silver, Apple P/N 661-08031 (New) 15” MacBook Pro Complete Display - Silver, Apple P/N 661-08031 (Used Grade-A) To validate the issue is all within the internal display connect an external display via Thunderbolt to HDMI or DisplayPort dongle. If the external display is clean you’ve proved the issue is strictly within the display.
