after replacing the digitiser on my Ipad3 (A1699) red and grey alternate lines appeared on the display. screen is otherwise unresponsive
You may have damaged the LCD while repairing the digitizer. I would go back through your steps to see if anything is obviously wrong and also double-check your connections. The LCD is surprisingly fragile if you touch apply any pointed pressure along the edges.
