I have a TASCAM DR-05 audio recorder that has a monochrome orange LCD whose display has partially been damaged. Only the bottom half can be read while the top half is blank. I would like to attempt to change out the LCD by finding a replacement. I need help in finding a source for a replacement LCD. I’ve included a picture of the LCD on the PC Board just in case it might help. Would you please be able to point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your time and help. P.S. I am aware it is not worth the effort to repair and it would definitely be more prudent to just buy another DR-05. That’s not the point. It’s a personal challenge to see if I can fix it. This is purely for fun, therefore no need to be tempted to let me know that I should just buy another DR-05. It’s not what I want to do. Thanks.
Hi @edd1e Here’s the service manual. To download the service manual, after you click on the reCAPTCHA test and clicked on the Go to Download link below the Document preview box be patient as it takes a bit of time to go from processing to Download. When it does click on Download. In the DR-05 sm.pdf file go to p.21-22 (part #29) to view the LCD screen pcb.The LCD screen is on a board with part number E95416100A. There are no results when searching for the pcb part number. As for the screen itself check on the back of the screen to see if there is any identifying information and search online using that information. You could also use the schematics (DR-05_schematics.pdf) to test and see if the LCD screen is the problem or whether the problem is on the pcb. First check that all the screen’s connections to the pcb are OK just in case that is the problem. Hopefully a start
