I recently replaced the digitizer (iFixit part), it seemed to be OK but after a few minutes it starts to type on it’s own or if you attempt to swipe to the next page it will swipe back. I have taken it apart and everything looks good. Is it possible it’s a bad digitizer?

It’s possibly a digitizer issue as the iPad mini is notorious for those kinds of issues. iFixit mini replacement parts are quite good quality however so as Lee suggests, contact support to see what they can do for you. The iPad mini has a few gotchas as far as the digitizer goes, @jessabethany did a great write-up several years ago and it still applies today.

Head on over to iFixit support/warranty dept! They stand behind their stuff.

You need to locate two foam ridges on both sides of the home button on the housing chassis, they are adhered onto a tape that is holding the LCD, you can either pull off the foam ridges or scrape them off. The foam ridges often interfere with touch functionality (especially when install an aftermarket digitizer)
