Chosen Solution
When I turn my ipod classic 80 gig on and try to select something to play it (at times) randomly scrolls up and down. When I do finally get to select the album or song I want to play it (at times) also randomly adjusts the volume. It seems to be less of an issue when I use it through a docking station. I am wondering if it is a battery problem or a click scroll wheel problem. Or something else? thanks
kerrigeoff, first thing I would try is a restore and resync your files. If that does not work, I would consider replacing the Click Wheel. Once you replace the click wheel, you could also take the opportunity and replace the battery. That way you know for sure that your parts are good and you will not have to open it up for a while.
