Chosen Solution
My macbook randomly shuts down. It goes black screen the fans pick up then dies. I’ve tried resetting the SMC. Replacing the heat sink. And giving it a clean. Not sure what else to do. MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014)
To help isolate the problem, hook up to an external monitor and see if it goes down when this happens. Reapplying thermal paste of the cpu helped in my case with the same machine for 100%
