I was wondering if there would be any issues replacing my logic board in my late 2014 Mac mini, I use it for a lot of server items and its getting rather run down. It currently has the i5 @ 2.6ghz and 8gb of ram. It isn’t to expensive to buy an upgraded board with more ram (the i7 @ 3.0 ghz w/ 16gb of ram). The major issue I see come into play is if apple changed heat syncs or power supplies depending on which board was place in the computer to begin with.
I would suggest going with an SSD to give it a really big speed boast: Crucial MX500 500 GB SSD Mac mini Late 2014 Hard Drive Replacement Mac mini Late 2014 SSD Replacement UPDATE 5/30/19 I got one of these in for a hard drive upgrade yesterday. It seems that if the machine did not ship with a factory SSD installed, it may not even have the slot in it to put an SSD stick in.
