PS4 stuck in safe mode Everytime i turn ps4 on it checks system storage status then goes to menu tells me cannot start ps4 connect controller and press ps button then it tells me i need update file version 5 and i put i USB with update file it tells me update file cannot be used error code CE-34788-0 but when i start PS4 in safe mode (7 seconds on power button) it installs the update but after restart safe mode again please help
So I couldnt do anything but reinitialize my PS4 and lose all my data. What a waste
No if it gets stuck on any percentage in the storage check in safe mode. You will have to buy a new HDD. You have a corrupt HDD. It doesnt matter if reinstall the software, if you don’t have money for a hard drive or you don’t wanna wait. Just have any High USB storage device. Download the PS4 reinstalling software from their website. and take the hard drive out when you connect the usb storage device, that way you won’t have any interference. My ps4 just allows me to access only one option in the ps4 loop. Option 7

Put a game that came out or had an update recently and update it via lan cable or wifi. then when it restarts if it comes up with a blue flow mark you are good.
I managed to break the “Cannot Start the PS4“ loop on my PS4 by performing an initialization from Safe Mode. Nothing else seems to work. Do this as a last resort, but if it does not work and break the loop, I do not know what else to do.
This is hard to explain but I have a ps4 slim. My ps4 controller works just fine but only thing wrong is I am stuck on not enough USB storage so I bought a new hdd exactly like my old one and I finally got on safe mode but I can’t select anything else but #7 which is the only thing is it letting me choose but when I choose it. It takes me back to safe mode. Help me out I don’t know if any of that made any sense
Corrupt hard drive maybe? Have you tried reseting the databases or anything while inside safe mode?
Has anyone found an actual solution? Spent hours looking everywhere on the internet no one seems to have any luck how can a problem like this go un detected? Mine wont update from a usb or the internet cant rebuild database and from what I’ve heard of you try and reset you lose all the data and nothing happens. Gonna find a disc with an update and go from there.
No idea if this will get an answer but I did everything i have read… all the way up to completly resetting the system and it still went bck to that loop. It loaded to 100% but still loaded back to the save mode. Has anyone figured this out?
I have the same problem, solution is probably switching to xbox.
I tried to rebuild my database but it takes me to a screen that asks me to install an update file from a usb for reinstallation- i didn’t select this option so I try to start my ps4 normally so i can back up all my game save data to the cloud and it takes me right back to this screen saying cannot start ps4, insert usb with update file for reinstallation. I don’t even know where to get the proper update file let alone install the &&^&^$^ thing and have it exit this safe mode loop. Any suggestions anyone??

If you put in a new game or one with a new update it will ask you to uptake say yes then just wait and it has like a75% chance of working sadly not for me;(
Its a hard drive failure. If the prosess repeats over 3 times within 30 days of use then its a no doubt hard drive issue. Hard drive replacements range from 40-90 $ and cost of installation will run you another 40 on top of that… check your local laptop repair places to see how much they will charge you to fix it.
I had the same problem what i did was unplug then plugged it back in put a game in i never downloaded in it went through the memory check with ease it skipped the needing a usb drive and rebuilt database

From my experience with other pc drives and storage devices you should be able to remove the hard drive and connect it to a Windows unit. I don’t have any Mac experience so I’ll speak of Windows. Remove the PS4 hdd with the unit completely off.Connect to your pc using usb to SATA adaptor.Go to disk drive map to see drive. Computer drive should be C: external drives are usually a different letter.Open the CMD: prompt type chkdsk then letter designation of the disk. So your line of text will beCHKDSK G: /fAlso you can simply right click the drive in file explorer, click properties, click tools and then check. This may be a more direct route.If your drive is not recognized it may be failing and need replaced.I would try this before going through the more permanent “initialize system" option. Have a question. PS4 keeps saying cannons start the ps4. Connect DualShock using usb then press ps button. Then just directs me to install software. Also from the menu I can’t select anything other than option 7, to reinstall the software. How can I fix this. I am in safe mode also.
I put my ps4 on and it says “cannot start ps4 connect dualshock " then it asks me to download the update with the usb. I then do this and after the installation is complete my ps4 turns off and goes straight back into that same screen. “Cannot start ps4 connect dualshock” I then hold the psn button and go into safe mode whatever option I select it will load however go back into that same screen “cannot start ps4” What is causing this? Is it the hardrive?
That definitely sounds like your HDD bricked on you. My son’s PS4 did the same thing. The reader arm in the hard drive was stuck. There are several youtube videos that give advice on how to try and save the hard drive if it is just a stuck arm. Good luck!!

I am too stuck on the infinite safe boot loop on my 5yo ps4pro. My power button too isn’t responding. The only way I can get the console to boot is by feeding it with a disk..
