Hi so a couple hours back I replaced my thermal paste and I decided to play a game on the PS4 just after 4 mins of playing the game a screen popped up saying that it’s overheating and it needs to cool down. Did I miss something up? I’m using MX-4 by Artic. Does the paste need to cure ?
try tightening the heatsink bracket more
Given that you are getting overheating messages, I would initially suspect that there is not enough of the paste on the CPU. There should be enough that there is good contact over the entire chip with the heat sink. If you have not placed enough, there will not be enough surface area making contact for good heat flow. Re-examine the chip and add more if it looks like there are gaps. There should not be any air bubbles either. Air is a good insulator of heat and any bubbles will defeat the purpose of the paste.
