So we tried to turn on our ps4 one day and it said cannot start ps4 connect controller with USB cable blah blah, we went through the whole reinstallation process and put the program on a usb drive and basically factory reset the ps4, it started working for a few minutes, I restarted it a few times and tried downloading a small app like YouTube, the ps4 was kinda laggy and froze every once in a while, I tried starting YouTube and the screen froze and the ps4 turned off. After booting it up again it once again brought me to the “cannot start ps4” screen. Is the hard drive shot? Or is there another fix?

It’s either a bad hard drive or power supply. Is it randomly shutting off with no warning? If it’s no warning it’s a bad power supply. If it’s taking a long time to turn on or off with freezing in the main menu / running slow it’s the hard drive going bad.
