Chosen Solution Hi all I know fault finding no power faults is a well trodden path, and the cause can be wide and varied. However, after recently fault finding several dead iphone pcbs I want to improve my approach from my current almost random plan of attack. I’ve done a lot of searching online and on this forum as I thought I’d find a best practice method, I appreciate that there is no holy grail approach but I thought I could gather a few ideas together which may be interesting and may help others that stumble across this thread....

Chosen Solution I dropped my ASUS tablet then when I press the power button the screen won’t display anything… It does not have anything to do with a water damage… I can still hear my notifications, alarms, and messenger ringtone. The problem is the screen won’t display anything… I tried searching what’s with the problem in the google turns out… it was a loose ribbon cable … but not really sure with it though…....

Steve Fishwick MP3618-V50 is your power board. If you found failed parts on that it is best to replace the complete board. Unusual to still have sound but possible that this just affected the LED’s for your display....

Chosen Solution What can I do to fix this problem Tammy Adams, you can try with a reset and a restore first. If that does not work, disassemble your phone, check the cable for proper connection. If it is properly connected, no corrosion or debris on the logic board, replace the digitizer. Check this video to see if you are up to that task. Also remember that the Original 2G iPhone Glass repair will cost you more than the 3G iPhone Glass....

Chosen Solution I ordered a new power cord that hooks into the rear of the Satellite A105 laptop. The cord was ran under the fan, so I’ve removed the fan but it’s some of it under the board itself. My question is what’s the easiest way to replace this cord??? Wilkes, I opened the Maintenance Manual for your laptop model up on my storage site. Do feel free to look at it especially chapter 4 in the 2nd part that deal with the CPU and the fan....

Chosen Solution There’s a small bead (I have no idea how) in the headphone jack, and I can’t even see it now that I’ve poked at it enough. Is there any way to take it apart and get it out? kdmirissa, the poking may have cause the bead to be further lodged into the audio jack. You could try with some suction, i.e. vacuum cleaner etc. to see if your get it out from there....

Threading the needle the wrong way, for example, will certainly cause tangles. Read the instruction book very carefully. If you haven’t got one, see if you can find it online for your make and model of machine....

I searched for the model of the battery, and ordered a battery that was the same model, BUT what arrived was an HSTNN-UB6K . Chosen Solution I just bought a used iBook and it has a password for the admin account. I do not have the OS reinstall disks. How can I remove the password? I was able create a new admin account by pressing command-s at startup, and then following instructions I found online. Then I deleted the other admin account. Works great now! Without an original system installation disk or a retail system disk you can’t remove the password....

Chosen Solution My MacBook 12" Retina A1534 Early 2015 is showing the “service battery” warning in both the system controls as well as Coconut Battery. I am looking to replace it myself, however the repair guide on iFixit essentially involves dismantling the entire machine and leaving only the lower case assembly and battery. Is there a way to remove the battery without stripping it down to the lower case assembly? Also, is there adhesive holding the battery to the lower assembly?...

Chosen Solution Where it is saved in the iPHone IMEI? Settings>general>about You can’t, period. Apple is a group of control freaks, they paired and encrypted almost every chip that has logic functions. So replacing just some of the chips will destroy the device. For example in order to replace IMEI, the baseband and baseband flash ROM chip must be replaced together as a set, or the device dies. Also the device S/N must be rewritten to pair with the IMEI, or the phone will be denied activation....

Chosen Solution I know that its likely the inverter or the inverter board, but I was hoping that someone could help me determine which. My backlight works sometimes - but after a short period it usually goes dark. This can be fixed temporarily by turning the brightness all the way down and then up. This fix only works sometime, and some jiggling of the screen usually helps if its not working....

Chosen Solution I ordered an screen replacemt from i fixit and after i completed the repair and attempted to put the screen back on it just isnt going in right. I thought it was in and the pentalope screws would not go in either. I’ve really tried with this, any advice? Contact iFixit Support for a replacement. Do you have a picture of the frame? It’s possible your frame has damage, which is causing a perfectly round piece of glass to not fit....
