Chosen Solution Replaced battery, everything working but first time battery %would not charge past 43%, shut down and came back at 100%, but using it it dropped to 2% quickly but would not die. Subsequent charging will not show it charging but if I power cycle it will show 100%. Left overnight unplugged still shows 100% but 5 minutes of use goes to 2% but can use for hours. Any suggestions?...

They took it to a electronics repair store which said that the “motherboard” would have to be replaced, to quote the previous owners. They were were quoted at $300-800 or so for labour and parts. So I cam along and picked it up for $15 from them and found a used powerboard for under $100 (no such thing as a motherboard), and now need to know if there is anything I should know before opening up the TV and replacing the powerboard....

Chosen Solution Front door panel will not open with or without remote control. Front door panel controls whole unit. there are a few possibilities and require you to do some further trouble shooting. It is possible that the switch has stopped functioning, that the flex cable has come loose or tore, as well as a burned out control panel motor, or a bad gear box. Best place to start is to disassemble the unit, and check the named components....

Its designed as a router management OS as a dedicated system (merely using the Mac hardware not MacOS at all). Scratch your drive and re-install MacOS from the recovery partition if you want to use it....
Chosen Solution I just replaced a logic board on a 2009 A1278. I bought a tested board, and it’s guaranteed. But, I think my issue is a little 3 prong snap down cable. It comes from the back near the hinge, and snaps onto the logic board like a fan connector. What is this for? Would it cause a no-boot? I don’t even get a chime, screen. You can cause more problems than you will solve when trying to repair a keyboard. It is better to replace it. The Mic worked perfectly; sound was crisp and amazing to its standard. however, when i decided how it could work as a USB mic, I found an old USB Cable which fit the port, connected it and went on threw the stages. If you’re asking for a fingerprint sensor, for you i5, then no. Swapping these parts won’t work, for that purpose. If you’re going cosmetic, then you can strip and fashion an i5S home button for this, or as Andrew pointed out, purchase one from eBay, that has this particular purpose already in mind...

As far as I can tell, the connector wasn’t damaged when plugging it back in. The status on the menu bar says ‘Battery Is Not Charging’ and I’m running off the adapter. Then all of the suddent the screen turned to black (not black as in no light, just no icons/colors etc). So if you push power or home etc, it responds and lights up to a dark grey or black screen (as if the backlight is coming on but no data is being sent to the screen)....
