Chosen Solution My iBook is set to a 1024x768 screen resolution. After a few minutes, the screen will flash all blue (like the default background color) and then reset the resoultion to 640x480 and does not give me a choice to increase it in the settings panel. Sometimes a reboot will not correct this. I have reinstalled OS 10.3 twice and it keeps happening. Thanks for your help. First try as always - zap the pram....
Chosen Solution I just noticed that the heatsink isn’t covering these 2 chips, is there a heat sink that would fix that? This series only uses a single heat sink pad What is confusing you is the 15" which has a dual pad design for the discrete GPU chip. These other chips are the PCH & I/O chips which don’t run that hot.
Chosen Solution So as the title suggests, I have a black line down the display now. This is self inflicted as I’ve just had to chop the whole bloody thing apart to upgrade the RAM and swap out the disk for a SSD - which all works fine btw, no issues there - but the end result has been this black line down the display. It doesn’t appear in screenshots nor on my second monitor so it’s isolated to the display or the display data cable....

This can be caused by issues on the power board or with the power supply circuit to the main board. Remove the back from your TV and take a look at the power supply board. Check for obvious damage like burned, leaking components etc. Post some pictures of all of your boards with your question....

I can only see my bootable Windows USB which is set to Boot Priority #1....
Chosen Solution Ok, so I flipped my boat in the river and I don’t know why but my phone was still in my pocket and fully submerged (~1m deep) for 10-30 seconds. was already off after I pulled it out of my pocket except for some flickering of the screen with vertical lines+ multiple images. Also, the speaker played static noise. had it in rice for 3 days and opened it to clean it today....

I reset it three times with no luck. Unplugged it as well and tried again. No luck. Idk how to check the mainframe or whatever its called or what to look for. Chosen Solution Warning occurred the day before it shut down that the startup disk was almost full (and actually deleted some of the files to free space but probably not enough) MacBook on basic start up has the blinking folder with question mark. Upon restarting into start up manager the solid tone comes and the macintosh hd drive for the computer displays. Click on the icon and no Apple logo appears the screen stays grey/white....

When I detach the Headphone Flex Cable from the logic board (bottom right next to the right speaker) the computer boots normally.
